Sheen Lions March On To The Quarters Of The Surrery County Cup

Cup fever struck Sheen Lions as two teams progressed through the Quarter Finals of this prestigious competition.

The Under 18's had a good win against a strong Kew Association side winning 3-1 after extra time. Two goals by Major and one by Tyler were enough to see them through to the last 8 of the competition.

The Under 13's had another convincing win with a 7-0 victory away to Manorcroft Utd. A hat-trick by Peare and goals apiece by James, Marques, Lloyd and Haddad sealed a comfortable win.

The Under 14's were unlucky to lose narrowly 3-2 to Whyteleafe in the last 16.

We wish the two remaining sides luck on the 7th Feb 10 as they look to march on towards the County Cup Finals

All Surrey Youth League Games Cancelled 9th and 10th January

***** Update Friday 8/01/2010 the League have cancelled all games, there is no need to ring in results to the league.

LBRUT have as you would expect closed Palewell and Sheen Common for this weekend due to the weather so all training and games using these facilities are cancelled.

The visiting teams have to be offered the option to host the match. With the current weather conditions they are most unlikely to be able to do this so this is likely to be a formality.

Those due to play County Cup this Sunday should note that their game will take precedence over any fixture next Sunday 17th January. The Secretary will let Surrey County know the position.

Managers must please remember to return your match cards as postponed and ring in your result as postponed to avoid fines.

Fixture Congestion Impact

With so much bad weather this season, and the prospect of more to come, the league are concerned that some teams will have to play mid week fixtures or double headers in order to complete their league program by Sunday 9th May. Only 11 a side teams are of concern.

To avoid this the League have identified those teams that are most at risk and red flagged them. These teams are being asked to offer their fixtures secretary Saturday dates from mid January onwards when they can be available to play league matches.

These Sheen Lions teams have been red flagged:
  • Sheen Lions U12
  • Sheen Lions U14 Pride
The following are 'green' and so should have little concern: U11L, U13L, U14L, U18

The following are 'amber' so further disruption could result in a problem: U11P , U12P, U13P, U15L
